Q. Do you pay me for my items on the day that I bring them to you?
A. No. Your items will be kept on consignment. After they sell, credit goes into your consignment account. You may then use your credit or take cash. note: Please refer to our Consignment Policies for info about cash vs. credit percentages.
Q. Do I need an appointment to bring items to you?
A. No. We do, however, have strict rules about the number of items you can bring in a day. We ALWAYS RECCOMEND CALLING AHEAD to ask if the items you are about to bring are items we are able to accept. (Often, we just have too many of a particular item, for example.)
NOTE: It is especially important to call ahead before you bring a larger item (crib, baby swing....) because it will be an incredible waste of your time to load these into your car and then find out we do not have room to take them.
Q. May I choose the prices that you will put on my consigned items
A. While we are open to suggestion, we have 17+ years of experience in selling children's and maternity items, and will use that experience to make the final decision on how to price your items.
Q. Does the money in my account ever expire?
A. No. Your credit-earned stays in your account until you use it to purchase items in the shop, or until you take a cash payout.
Q. What happens to items that do not sell in the alloted 3 month period?
A. They get donated to a local charity that will give them away to those in need.
Q. Will I make lots of money by cleaning out my closets and attic?
A. Well... you may make some money. However, we are all about recycling and about selling nice, up-to-date, clean, baby/children's/maternity items at very reasonable prices. Note: We do not sell collectibles or antiques at Mother & Child, and we do not reccommend buying things at yard sales and trying to make money by selling them at Mother & Child.
Q. How should I prepare the items I want to sell?
A. We will only consider freshly laundered/cleaned items that are in style, in demand and free of defects. We ask you to look over your freshly washed items for missing buttons, stains, missing toy pieces, etc and to bring only 30-or-less clean, sellable items for us to consider. Clothing does not need to be ironed, but does need to be neatly folded.
Q. I am moving (or have other special circumstances.) May I bring you more than 30 items at one time?
A. The reality is... we are asked this question several times per day, and so, we must say "no." We feel it is not fair to bend the rules for some and not for others. Most people will find that if they look through their items carefully, with a critical eye, and make sure they are all for the correct season, they can pare down the number of trips they need to make to consign all of their outgrown items.
Q. How do I find out how much money is in my account?
A. You can call us (603-886-6727), e-mail us (info@mothersays.com) or stop in and ask us to look up your account anytime dring business hours. Remember: the balance that we quote to you will be your "store credit" balance. If you intend to take cash or a check, the balance will be less. (Please refer to our Consignment Policies for info about cash vs. credit percentages.)
Q. Do I ned to remember my account number?
A. You do not need to remember an account number. We look you up by your name.
